Trekking to World’s End in Horton Plains

Nuwara Eliya
New

About this activity

Hike through a high-altitude plateau of grasslands and cloud forests to reach a sheer precipice that drops over 800 meters, offering views that stretch to the south coast.

Horton Plains National Park is a hauntingly beautiful landscape of silent plains and windswept trees. The circular 9-kilometer trek takes you to "World’s End," a dramatic cliff edge where the plateau suddenly drops into a deep valley. On clear mornings, you can see all the way to the Indian Ocean. Along the way, you can visit Baker’s Falls and spot endemic wildlife like the Sambar deer. Due to the mist that often rolls in by mid-morning, it is essential to start the hike early to ensure you witness the spectacular, unobstructed views from the precipice.
