Arugam Bay Beach

Located on the remote, sun-drenched eastern coast of Sri Lanka, Arugam Bay is internationally celebrated as the surfing capital of the country and consistently ranks among the top surf destinations in the world. While the southern beaches experience their monsoon season, Arugam Bay comes alive between May and September, offering a completely different seasonal dynamic for travelers. Just a short drive south lies Kumana National Park, an incredible sanctuary renowned for its dense populations of migratory birds, wild elephants, and elusive leopards, offering a much quieter safari experience compared to the busy southern parks. In the evenings, the town transforms into a vibrant social hub, with beachside restaurants serving fresh seafood and lively bars hosting weekly parties.
